Oh Yes!

Actually I don’t have to deal with too much LOL Speak.  I deal mostly with your common everyday errors.

Pre Summer Vacation Party

Yesterday was the last day before summer vacation.  Yay!  We had a bit of a party for the kids.  We played two games.  One was eat the onion ring snack off the rope and the other was eat the cream puff snack thing out of the plate, both sans hands.  The kids had fun.  The teachers had fun.  All in all, it was a great way to spend a half hour or so in the morning.

Enjoy the pictures!!

Parachutes

I teach science to all my students.  Today was my day for the beginner 7 year olds.  There are only four of them, but they can be a handful.  OK, the two boys are a handful… the girls are fine.  :)

Today we made parachutes.  It’s really easy.  All you need is a plastic bag, some string or thread, tape and a small toy.  Cut a large circle out of the plastic bag.  The bigger, the better, really.  Cut four pieces of thread approximately equal to the diameter of your circle.  That’s the distance across the circle for those of you who forgot high school geometry.  Tape the thread at equal intervals around the circle.  Tie the four pieces of thread into a knot at the bottom.  Use more tape to secure the toy to the thread.  Now, hold your parachute up and drop it!  Watch how it falls slower than if you dropped the toy without the parachute.

As an extension, you can ask the kids what they think would happen if your parachute was smaller or the toy was bigger.  See what they say, and then try it!  That’s science.

Frog Puppets

OK.  First post about my new school, Maple Square.  I teach a variety of things to 5 and 7 year olds.  Today was arts & crafts with the advanced 7 year olds.  We made frog puppets, which go with this weeks theme.  Well, last week’s theme.  I misread the schedule and got off a week.  Anyhow, we made frog puppets using this site for directions.  Unlike previous arts & craft projects, these turned out really great.  Sorry about the crappy pictures.  I left my camera at home, and all I had was my cell phone.

Comments…

Interesting…  seems something has gone all wonky on this blog.  The posts publish and show, but if you try to click on a post, you get a 404 (not found) error.  Well, boogers.

:-(

I’m currently reading through the forums seeing if I can find any helpful information.  It seemed to start after setting up the WordPress app for my iPod Touch.  I’ll back out of that change and see what happens.  Until then, feel free to email me comments.  I’ll post my email in the side bar…

Changes – Part O (ie 5)

I’m hanging out here at Krispy Kreme enjoying my time off. Generally, I don’t do vacation time very well at all. This time is different. I guess I really needed this short break.

As I said last night (sadly it seems I can type faster on my iPod than on my spacebar-less laptop) my stuff is in Daejon. I’ll end up staying in a hotel there for a few days until my bed is delivered (Kathryn + floor = pain). I start teaching on monday.

Today, I bought myself a Korean cookbook. I’m looking forward to trying some of the recipes. I love Korean food, so it should be fun. There are a few recipes I want to have my dad try to make for my grandma. She would probably enjoy some of the zucchini ones.

I’ll end by saying the WordPress app for the iPod touch/iPhone is great. Who knew sitting, drinking tea, and blogging could be such a great combination!!

Change – Part Sa (ie 4)

So I’m sitting here in my hotel room in Ulsan.  I finished at Little Campus yesterday.  There were only a few tears.  My stuff has arrived in my apartment  in Daejon.  The cats are being boarded at the vet’s office.  I’ll move up to Daejon this weekend.  I start teaching at my new school on Monday.

I plan on relaxing the best I can over the next few days.  I’m looking forward to meeting the students and staff at Maple Square.   I’m also looking forward to exploring Daejon.  It sounds like a neat place.

Sorry this is so short.  I’m on my laptop which is lacking a space bar.
