New Theme (yes again)

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

So I’m bored.  I wasn’t really feeling the last theme.  I spent a while picking a new one (Regulus) and tweaking a new (really crappy) custom header.

Tomorrow is Kindergarten Presentations and I need to take my mind off of them.  Plus I need to keep “Kung Fu FIghting” out of my head.

New Theme

WordPress.com just came out with an update to “The Journalist” theme.  I’ve been using Cutline for over a year now (aside from the few weeks at Christmas) and I was ready for a change.  I don’t know how long it will last, but change is good for the soul.

That is all…  Look for updates in the near future.

Not Enough Time

On February 17th, I bought a little guinea pig.  I named her Sparkler.  She was my baby.  I loved her very much.  Sadly, on August 19th, she passed on. The vet thinks she at something that cut up the insides of her intestines.  She died after being ill for a week.

On Tuesday at lunch, I decided to tell the vet I wanted to have Sparkie put to sleep.  I could tell she was in pain.  She was so weak.  She could barely hold up her head.  During lunch, I just held her and told her how much I loved her and how much I appreciated the little time we had together.

We (all the teachers) had dinner out that night to welcome Nick and Jessica and say goodbye to Jon and Joanna.  When I got home, I took Sparkie out of her cage.  She purred and squeaked a few times, and then that was it.  I firmly believe she waited until I got home so we could say goodbye.

Life hasn’t really been the same.  In some ways, I feel silly for getting so attached to a little rodent.  But she was a good friend.  She listened to me rant and rave when I had a bad day.  She made me laugh with the cute or silly things she did.  The worst part of it all is the quiet, all though I’m starting to get used to it.  Sparkie, even though she was a little thing, was surprisingly vocal.  She let me know when she wanted more treats (oranges, green peppers and apples mostly).  It’s getting easier with time.

I had her most recent picture printed and now I have it hanging over my desk at work.  I talk about her with my kids.  Many of them remember Sparkie from the day I brought her in.  I have the same picture framed.  I put it in the same place her cage was.  Next to it is a huge bamboo plant Joanna gave me before they moved out.

Vacation Time!!!!

Nine wonderful days of freedom from small people. I don’t have to leave the comfort of my apartment unless I want to. Well, not quite true. I need to go to the post office and mail some stuff, do the shopping and get a bracelet fixed (one of my 5 year olds broke my Medic Alert bracelet accidentally).

I have a tiny bit of work to do for school. Not much. I have a test I need to type. And I need to make a CD of children’s songs. Neither require any brain work. I wrote the test last week and I just need to search my hard drive for the tracks I need to burn.

I definitely need a break. We’ve been going hard for the last six months. We had English Village last week and Open House a few weeks before that. We also just finished portfolios. When we get back, we need to start thinking about Kindergarten Presentations.

These two cartoons are an accurate representation of how I feel right now, especially the Garfield one.

I went to college for this?

Sparkler Update

Sparkler is doing well. She’s getting big. She’s getting very big. I hope she stops growing soon. She used to fit in the palm of my hand. No more.

She definitely has a personality of her own. She lets me know when she’s unhappy with something. She can be very loud at 6 o’clock in the morning when she needs food or water. She seems to like the “other stuff” (the seeds and such) in her food better than the guinea pig pellets, so I bought a bag of the other stuff to mix in with her food. She still also loves oranges, peppers and cucumbers.

So now for a few pictures…

Enjoy!
