Halloween Costumes

I can’t believe I dressed up for Halloween.  Well, technically I did last year.  But my idea of a costume was a denim skirt, a tee-shirt and bows in my hair.  Add in pink cheeks and freckles, and I was a baby doll.

This year, I went all out (for me at least).  I’m a sad, sad clown.  I bought a long, curly, purple wig.  I bought a iridescent blue cowboy hat.  I bought a big, red, sequined bow tie.  And I bought some printed origami paper.  With the paper, I cut it into various free form shapes to make “patches”.  I used a black marker to make little dashes on the edges of the paper for the “stitches”.  I then used double sided tape to stick the patches to a pair of jeans, a shirt and the hat.  I also put the bow tie around the hat when I realized it was going to be too warm to wear a turtleneck to school.  I must say, I absolutely love the hat.  It’s totally adorable.

Halloween 2008

In front is Jessica who is a ballerina princess.  Next is Noreen who (obviously) is a witch.  Standing in back is Nick who is Kung Fu Panda.  Next is Janie who is a kimbap. Next is me as the sad clown.  And sitting on the right is Jon.  I’m not entirely sure what he is, and he isn’t even sure what he is.  Everyone’s best guess is that he’s an ajuma.

My Current Schedule

So how do I spend my days?  Good question.  There are days I don’t know how I spend my days.

My Current Schedule

In the mornings, I have March (6 year olds), Sha-Sha (5 year olds one day and 6 year olds the next), November (7 year olds), July (7 year olds) and September (7 year olds).  After lunch I have May (6 year olds).  When the afternoon session starts, I have the special November speaking and writing class.  I also have A2 (1st graders), A5 (1st graders), C1 (2nd and 3rd graders), C5 (3rd graders) and D3 (4th and 5th graders).  I also teach the C1 special speaking and writing class.  Once every two months I have Ivy (6th, 7th and 8th graders) for a speaking class.

I teach math, science, language, reading, writing, speaking and phonics.  Overall, it’s a good schedule.  I get to go home early the bulk of the week.  I stay late on Tuesday because we usually have a meeting, and I need to write the lesson plans for the following week.  The Ivy class meets on Wednesday from 6:00-6:50.

Munsu Stadium Field Trip

On Wednesday, the entire kindergarten went to the park surrounding Munsu Stadium.  It was a nice break from the tedium of preparing for presentations.  They piled the kids (and teachers) into the vans and buses and away we went.

We took a bunch of class pictures, looked at the fountain for a while and then walked around to the other side of the lake where we had a picnic lunch.  Then it was time to go back to Little Campus.

Pictures you say?  You want pictures?  Well here you go!

Welcome Jon and Noreen!

Jon and Noreen arrived earlier this week.  They’re settling in nicely.  They survived their first three days of teaching.  The kids all seem to like them.

Good luck to them this coming year!

Goodbye and Good Luck!

Jonathan and Joanna just finished their one year contact at Little Campus.  They’ll be flying back to the US on Sunday.  I will definitely miss them.  I know the students will miss them.

Here are a few pictures from their last day.
